I love the engaging diary narrative structure of this book. The author does very well in what most authors fail at: connecting with the reader. He takes the reader on a roadmap of his life, surviving life-threatening accidents as a young man and later in life facing cancer. In his journey, he brings the reader into his world, explaining complex medical issues in easy-to-understand explanations. His generous use of personal pictures and illustrations complements his narrative.

Having survived prostate and thyroid cancer, I can relate to the trials and tribulations of cancer treatment. The author does an excellent job of showing the impact cancer treatment can have on your family and the emotional rollercoaster that changes your life forever. I highly recommend this book. It will educate you, make you cry, and make you laugh. Most of all, it will inspire you.

In this work, Muse shares what he has learned medically and includes a helpful glossary at the end of the book for easy reference.

The story of Perry's life and what he has gone through has pushed me to keep going with my life. I am only on my second surgery and life has been dim for the past 4 years. But seeing what Perry has gone through has made me realize it could be much worse. I have started pushing through the pain. As Perry had Mia I have my significant other who has been by my side for 10 years and supports me through the tough times. Although I am a Gemini and now I feel I need to look up the strength I gain from that.

The only problem I had with the book is that it's not any easy read on Kindle or the phone app. The print is very small and when you zoom in it gets blurry.

Reading this book was amazing! I love how when I came across something I didn't understand, there was an answer for that in the book. The emotion he takes you on in this book, is so much like a rollercoaster as there others have said . Ive always payed attention to numbers and dates .I've just never really noticed them like he does! My favorite part is that no matter how hard the road got, he was never alone. His wife was amazing she never left his side. He sure did fight the good fight. I sure do hope that this is not his last book.

I went to high school with Perry. I am so proud of him for writing this book to help others who will benefit from his experience. I saw Perry at our 40 year high school reunion and knew he was recovering from cancer, but I had no idea that he had been through so much! He is so down to earth in the way he presents himself in his book that he makes you feel as comfortable as if you were sitting with him listening to him tell his story. I am sure his readers feel like they know him personally after finishing his book. He even defines the medical terms and explains the medical procedures which is very helpful in understanding what he went through. I applaud him for recognizing his wife, Nila, in so many beautiful ways, and I enjoyed getting to know her in the book. It was a joy to read of your loving relationship. Perry Muse was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2017. This life-changing news challenged him momentously and made him fight through each day with admirable courage and resilience. This memoir details Perry's battle with cancer. His unbelievable journey is shocking and inspiring.

This memoir is predominantly about his battle with cancer, hence the title, but there is also much more. Throughout the pages, Perry shares stories from his life, from his younger years to the present. It is all recorded in meticulous detail and accompanied by many reference photos, which draw you completely into his journey and help you understand the challenges he faced in his lifetime.

Perry's writing is relaxed and very easy to follow. His inner thoughts resonated with me and help you understand his approach to life, his cancer diagnosis, and fighting it. There are a lot of carefully detailed medical terms and definitions included that showcase the battle Perry's body was and is put through. These medical inputs are thoughtfully written with plenty of context. It is very easy to understand.

Throughout the memoir, we meet Perry's family and learn of his childhood and army days, to name just a few. He tells us of his love of sports, trumpeting years, and much more. His vivid storytelling completely pulls you back in time into his stories. What caught me off guard the most, however, is his sheer amount of close calls with death and the medical issues he's suffered. As I was reading, the phrase 'against all odds' stood out to me. The further I read, the more convinced I became that Perry is a walking physical manifestation of 'against all odds.'

Overall, I highly recommend this memoir. I have barely touched upon its contents in this review. There is so much more to it. Perry's story is inspiring, and his determination and resilience are something to aspire to.

An interesting and informative book about the authors experience of cancer and other health issues. Whilst having cancer may be the initial reason for writing about his experience, he tells us about his many other exploits, adventures and illnesses that he has experienced. To say there’s been a few would be an understatement! Written in an honest, warts and all style with feelings and emotions that you can’t help but be moved by, the reader is taken on the rollercoaster ride of ups and downs through each scan, surgery or test result. Everything is clearly explained in great detail.
