Living the Invisible Disability: Coping with Post Concussion Syndrome Traumatic Brain Injury & Depression Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

Who hasn't had a rough day? What if that 'rough day' ended up spanning the course of years? And, it was invisible to others? Hannah's life was going great. She was a stylist with high profile clients in Los Angeles, New York, Las Vegas, and Miami. Her talk show host career was taking off, but in one split second, everything changed. She was in a serious auto accident, left with a traumatic brain injury - and post-concussion syndrome, which results in threatening depression. Her career was instantly in ruins.

Hannah was in constant physical, emotional, and mental pain and could no longer be the mother she had been. In fact, everything that made her who she was seemed to have been ripped away. Without much information to guide her, Hannah embarked on her long, painful journey of recovery. For more than a year, it was two steps forward, one step back. Rather than give in and give up, she discovered resilience in the face of adversity. She did not just cope, she learned to thrive as she embraced the opportunity of paying forward what she learned through her experience and her decisions regarding how to perceive them.

In this candid, pull-no-punches account, Hannah shares her story of fear, loneliness, and suicidal thoughts that were superseded by everyday small victories, and ultimately an acceptance of the responsibility to share with others what it takes to overcome whatever you might be dealt. She reveals the practical tips she utilized as she healed herself from the inside out. Ultimately, Hannah's is a story of hope, followed by action, which leads to necessary change in our outlook on life's challenges. Hannah shares how her accident was a blessing in disguise that led her to rediscover her passion in life for helping others. Today, she lives her mantra, "We are not alone. And none of us should suffer in silence." Certainly not you.

Its a good book, I' m on week 12 of pcs and i couldn't read this book until now. I didn't want to
imagine healing could take this long. Once I came to reality and knew this would be a long
journey, reading the book was easier. I wish I could hear of a story of complete 100% recovery,
but I have not yet. I keep hoping, at least she was able to get on a plane and work at 6 months
even though it wasn't easy. We have to look at what we have and are grateful for each day.

Compelling story of Hannah's courageous journey from her serious auto accident with its lingering effects ... traumatic brain injury, post concussion syndrome and depression... all the way back to her "new normal." If you or anyone you know has experienced a traumatic brain injury, this book will open your eyes to the realities of coping with brain injuries. You will come away with a new understanding of the challenges and how to begin to overcome them. A helpful list of "healing from the inside out" tips is included in the back of the book. Highly recommended!

Hannah wrote of her own personal story ~ the ups and downs and the essence of hitting bottom. Her story tells of the challenges and heartbreak of having a MTBI ~ which changes your life in so many unique ways. Recovering from a head injury is one of the hardest things I have ever done. It was nice to affirm that I am normal in my many issues and that things will get back to a "new normal" in time. Bless her, I am not so sure I could put into words the journey to hell and back ~

Although I haven't quite finished REading this book yet, it is quite compelling, being an AVM survivor myself and living with an "Invisibile Disablity" is quite hard because people see you and even if they know what you've been through, they expect you to act and be like your old self, which isn't always the case. I LOVE myself alot better now than I did before, and don't have time to worry about what other people think or say about me.

While Hannah's story was inspirational I was expecting more. I was thinking I'd come away with knowledge of how to read signs & symptoms, where to go for assistance or medical information. It is a book of encouragement and I do applaud her for writing it. Overall the book is overpriced and a quick couple of hours read.

This account is very real to me. The title of this book says it all. I could relate to the feelings of the author. As I read I was reliving my own accident. I would recommend this book to anyone that has a BTI or PCS.

Hannah's dramatic life story is one that will inspire you as she shares her journey after her auto accident . I am so proud of her courage and strength that has helped her to move forward to be a "VOICE" for the many who are struggling with this invisible disability ~ post concussion syndrome & traumatic brain injury.

Hannah's experiences with TBI and how she coped. I feel fortunate I haven't experienced the symptoms that she had. Her story shows how with determination and will people are able to overcome even the most severe accidents.
