Piece by Piece Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.8 4.8 out of 5 stars 5 ratings

When high-school teacher Ken Reed meets a woman suffering from total amnesia who is terrified of getting help, he feels compelled to bring her into his home. He names her Julie and wants nothing more than to keep her protected and safe. But soon her troubling past begins to return in disjointed flashes of horrific memories. And people around Julie start to die.

Is Julie simply the victim of a tragic accident, or did she have a hand in the terrifying events her memories uncover? Who wants Julie dead? And why is she so afraid of the police? Most importantly, what is left for Julie and Ken to hold onto when the past intrudes on the present, piece by terrifying piece?

As a fan of Susan Tuttle's books, I anticipated a well written, solid, good read when I downloaded Piece by Piece to my kindle. I was not disappointed. I thoroughly enjoyed the suspenseful tale of an everyday woman who finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. The woman "loses her identity" as she struggles with amnesia. Her mind has blocked out a brutal murder and kidnapping. Kindly, well meaning but sometimes impatient folks attempt to help her recall her past life, but the secondary characters, like us the reader, do not fully understand the dynamics and anguish of amnesia, that clueless state of nothingness and, in this case, even the loss of the ability to read. As the story unfolds, we watch the heroine heal and face decisions about herself and the reality of her past. A good read! I highly recommend the book!

Susan Tuttle has a way of writing that manages to be both descriptive and fast-paced. She knows how to keep you reading with gut-wrenching action and emotional character involvement, all while keeping you vividly grounded with her sense of place. This one is almost nonstop action, though it's softened by a wonderful romance. Great book, beautiful writing.

I didn't want this book to end. The brave characters are battered and scarred by the end, but the ending is HE A. Susan Tuttle, please keep writing.

I purchased Piece by Piece, Susan Turtle's latest book at an author panel in which 8 local authors described the way they have woven local history into their books. Susan Tuttle's fascinating description of this book, the way an amnesiac's memory comes back to her "piece by piece" sold me on it.
