Rob Gordon wasn’t looking for a relationship; in fact he wasn’t even looking for a customer. Ready to close up shop at his book store, Rob was taken by surprise when, on a rainy, blustery night, a goddess stepped through the door. In order to keep Marissa, the goddess, in his life, Rob introduces her to mystery literature and then creates a club, with the same theme, that would meet regularly and keep her coming back to the book store. Marissa however, shows no interest in Rob, and appears cold and aloof. Despite the cold shoulder, Rob continues his pursuit, and in an unorthodox manner. Do they get together, come see in this sweet, romantic story. Should have a good series on her hand...

I loved A Mystery for Marissa by Alison Jean Ash, a Monday Mystery Society book. The story takes place in a beautiful Ohio town called Oakville, and revolves around the members of a local book club that meets at Acorns Bookstore, where the members find more than their next favorite author.
In this story, Rob, the bookstore owner, eyes the beautiful ER nurse Marissa, who is in his bookstore looking for quality mysteries, not smut, and certainly not a date. So Rob invents the Monday Mystery Society just to see her again, and then has to hustle to make it happen in a week.
It’s a sweet story of getting back in touch with one’s emotions, and of allowing oneself to be vulnerable again after hurt and disappointment. Likable, well-drawn characters, facing relevant situations, set in a lovely locale, Ms. Ash has us all believing in love again by the end of the book.

This is a wonderful and clever idea for a romance series. I know the book club thing has been done before but not, to my knowledge, like this. Rob lives for his job and so does Marissa, the ER nurse he falls head over heels for. The problem being is that her past relationship didn't want to accept her job and now she is gun shy about relationships because she is not about to give up her work. Rob invents The Monday Mystery Society on the spur of the moment to get her to spend some time with him. Needless to say, it works out in his favor but not before a soccer accident helps him out some. This is a really encouraging beginning of a series that I'm eager to read the rest of.

I could go on and on about all the things I like about this book, so I will.

Nurse, Marissa Keitz likes mystery, not smut. When she walks into Acorns bookstore she gets more than a book recommendation. She finds a smart, cute bookstore owner. He invites her to join The Monday Mystery Society to spend more time with her.

The book club grows and so does the romance between Rob and Marissa.

A Mystery for Marissa is the first book in a new collection called the Monday Mystery Society. Alison Jean Ash takes us back to the small town of Oakville where Rob, the bookstore owner, starts a book club in an attempt to lure the pretty Marissa back to the store. The novelette length story is told from Rob's point of view which helps the reader to understand his awkward attempts at courting Marissa.
The setting is believable and the characters likable. I especially enjoyed the realistic dialogue between the book club members as they discussed books.

This is a very interesting story with Marissa and Rob. Rob was very interested in Marissa and he went for it. The best part of the book for me was when Rob used the euphemism that Marissa used when she was describing the surgery procedure. Then Rob used the same euphemism to get his point across to Marissa about her ex husband. Classic
